When Vikram Bhaskaran, Arun Ranganathan and I came together to launch , we had a singular goal: To provide information, community and support to those navigating health challenges and ultimately transform the experience of health online. We didn’t realize how incredible this journey would be.
We first started with #glioblastoma which is a type of brain cancer. This is a condition where we need to ensure patients and caregivers get the timely, expert care they deserve wherever they live in the world. It's a condition where we need to ensure families get access to the best treatments, rehabilitation, and care management we have available today. It's a condition where advocacy and research is so important so new treatments can be funded, investigated and made available for families. And at Roon, our goal has been to help families do just that by connecting them with incredible knowledge and insights from world experts in the Glioblastoma community.
With thousands of people using the app today(and growing!), our members tell us that Roon is their trusted digital health companion. They've told us that they love the holistic approach, the multi-disciplinary team, the trusted experts and their varied perspectives. They love the intense focus on the patient and caregiver voice. In short, people find specific answers to the hard questions - from experts who have spent their lives discovering the answers.
Today, I’m thrilled to share some new updates. We’ve updated the app to include new content and features. Specifically, we now have over 1700 video answers from new notable experts to help people better manage their health. We’ve added new content on treatments, mental health, integrative medicine, acupuncture, music therapy, rehabilitation, meditation and more. And we’ve added new features like subtopics to help make navigation easier and AI summaries for those who prefer to read.
Between ALS, and GBM, we now have more than 4,000 videos holistically covering the disease journey. We’re so proud of the > 100 experts, patients and caregivers that have come together to make this possible. They span nearly every state and come from more than 50 world class medical institutions.
